A Rainy Saturday Giveaway

As the incoming storms have cancelled the festival we'd planned to attend today, I have two Grow Alabama produce boxes to give away. I'm running today's contest for the first box over Twitter, soliciting some green onion recipes between now and noon. The contest for the second box will be here, on this blog. The deadline is 5PM today.

This is a very simple contest. All you have to do is post a comment giving a suggestion as to what you'd like to see in this blog. The winner will be chosen at random, but keep in mind that you MUST leave an email address or some way for me to contact you.

Sorry, but for now the contest is only open to Birmingham area residents as I can't ship these boxes out. I want the winner to receive their box fresh!

EDIT: Although I mention it in my next post, Phyllis did indeed win the contest, and has hopefully enjoyed her box of vegetables thoroughly. -VE

  1. I think it would be neat if you had some of your farmers be guest bloggers occasionally. Their perspective on a recent storm's effect on their crops, or some other interesting thing that happens on their farm is a perspective that us "city folk" don't get to hear very often!

  2. I think you should provide links to all the "slow food" and local organic products available in and around Birmingham. As the film "Food, Inc." demonstrated, virtually all of our supermarket food supplies are controlled by about only 5 ginormous companies...it would be great to promote and publicize the small, local companies in a way that allows blog readers to understand which local products are available at what price, and how to go about getting them.

  3. I'd love to see more recipes for items that are in season right now, like you did for parsnips on your last post! It would be great to see new and creative uses of Alabama-grown vegetables.

  4. I think it would be great to post lists and places to buy interesting local ingredients that people may not know are available. Choose like one vegetable, spice, other a day and then do a small location story with a recipe! Thanks, Anna
